Engine oil smells like gas
#3
Thanks for the reply. It's a fresh motor that my dad put in and I just dropped the ball and flooded it. I will change oil and plugs tomorrow. I tried cleaning up the plugs but I think they're shot. So after running it, I'll check and see if oil has any residual fuel in it. It just scared me because I didn't realize that fuel could get into crankcase like that. I did not run it with the fuel in there so hopefully everything else is in good order. Again, thanks for the reply!

EFI or carb with mechanical fuel pump? My old RV has an electric pump added, & PO left the mechanical pump in line. The electric was pumping gas into the crankcase through the mechanical pump. If the diaphram in the mechanical pump is leaking it will let gas into the oil, even if you don't have an electric pump.
