Low Water Pressure on Windshield Washer?

OK,
when I purchased my 65 F100,the w/s washer nozzles were all that was present of the washer system. So today I replaced the windshield washer system -- new pump power button, new pump, new hoses, new reservoir and I cleaned the nozzles. The problem is there is very low water pressure coming from the nozzles -- water barely gets to the windshield. So, what have I missed or what needs to be done to increase the spray pressure?

If you unplug the hose at the splitter under the hood you should get a pretty good squirt with all those new parts. I suspect the nozzles might need more attention. I've cleaned them with a thin strand of copper wire and found success.

Thanks Eric, I did run a strand of wire thru both water holes in both nozzles. Additionally, I blew them out with compressed air from the nozzle openings back thru the inlet stem.

Maybe your pump is the problem. My original '66 pump howls like crazy but pumps fine. Any other old Fords nearby to compare it to?

Common problem: The nozzles are partially plugged up due to scale from undistilled water and/or wax.

Remove them, soak overnight in 'Lime Away' or white vinegar.

Well, that's the only thing I have not done....I'll give it a try tonight and get back to the board.

Well, I've done everything suggested and still have low nozzle pressure. I've concluded that the "new" pump must be bad...now to see if the vendor will accept to for an exchange/refund.

Thanks to all for your support!

I used a tip cleaner for a torch (drill bit kind) and they work well.
Select a size that only removes lime build up and not parent metal.

Well, it was a bad pump. I returned the repop and found a NOS unit on eBay (that was cheaper than the repop) and the washer spray is great!

Thanks for all the input.

I use torch tip cleaners as well. They work great and are good for changing the angle on adjustable nozzles. They are available at most parts stores.
