So a couple moves forward for me and my truck! Today a good new friend (owner of a 49' F1) came by to help me set my engine and transmission, locate the mounts, etc.
End result.. the engine and tranny are mounted and I'm ready to move on to the ever expanding list of things to do, lol

The front end didn't drop an inch with the added weight.
Also, nearly two years into ownership of this truck and I've finally settled on its name. The PO that I bought the truck from passed a couple weeks ago and I spoke with a number of relatives at the funeral that were pleased to learn that I had the truck and that good things were happening to it. At any rate, I told his son about the habit us truck owners have of naming our trucks and I asked him if it would be OK if I named this truck after his Dad. He was very excited about that and said of course So, my truck is now going by the name of "Storrs" Pretty cool I think.

LOL, not missing the 226 at all! Thanks for the comment on the name, Philthy50! Thought I'd set the carb and new air cleaner (old Caddy style) on top just to see what it will look like...

Been away for eight days, so no progress on the steering. Soon, though I hope!

Cute! I could have used a little mechanic like him when working on my daughters' Honda Prelude.

Making progress on the steering shaft linkage here. Today I set the bench seat in to check for fitment of the steering column. Originally I was going to go with buckets, but decided I wasn't going to gain anything at the back of the cab, even though I removed the gas tank. Will fab up the ole' "pie tin on a dowel" and see where the steering column needs to be and how long. I'm pretty sure I'm going with a shorty Ididit column, 16" long, as I'm penetrating the firewall with just the 3/4" DD steering shaft (Like Jeff & Nichole). So, hoping to pull the trigger on the column and steering wheel later this week!
