6.4 Powerstroke Report
I want to start out by saying thank you to all in this forum who have helped me along the way while owning the 6.4. But that chapter in my life has come to an end and I'm now the proud owner of a 2013 Ford F150 FX4 CC. I will post pictures later.....
This post is to inform potential buyers of the cost you may incur when maintaining these trucks if you follow the severe maintenance schedule and to report my records that I have kept and maintained while I owned my 6.4. Hopefully this will shed some light on the reliability of these trucks. I used this truck primarily as my daily driver and it did see some heavy towing but it was very limited. I modified the exhaust & had a spartan tuner on the truck since 43,500 miles. I was very religious about keeping records of my truck. I wrote down every time I got fuel, the date, gallons used, miles driven, miles per gallon, where fuel was purchased, & price. I kept a maintenance log of when I serviced the truck or had Ford garage service it or do warranty work.
I was the second owner of the truck and I purchased the truck with 30,600 miles. I had the truck for 23 months I put 39,970 miles on it, and when we parted ways the truck had 70,570 miles. I only used motorcraft fluids, fuel filters, water separator filters, & oil filters. I only used Rotella T6 5W 40 Synthetic Motor Oil. I changed the oil & filter every 5,000 miles & fuel filter were changed every 10,000 miles. I used power service diesel fuel additive at every fill up.
So here is my report....
All mileage is hand calculated. This is the average of the life of the truck for the last 23 months.

I did keep track of hours and it was 2034 hours and 70,570 miles. That is an average of 34.69 mph.
I traded now because it is the end of the quarter, end of the month, and the end of the year. I also got $11,500.00 off msrp on the f150.

Yeah I tried to do as much as I could to save a little money. The fuse issue turned out to be a couple 30 amp fuses. I had been through both fuse boxes using the owners manual diagram as a reference. I guess it just boils down to me not being able to tell if a 30 amp fuse is blown.... lol! I'm just a lousy shade tree mechanic I guess.

Thanks! My secondary job is a certified weld inspector and I have to keep stringent records especially since some of my guys are welding on boilers. That record keeping aspect has carried over to my personal life. I also wanted something to fall back on if I ever had a warranty claimed denied.

Since the truck was modified I wanted as much ammunition on my side as possible if I ever had a warranty claim denied that was fuel pump related. I also had the ability to track where the fuel came from. This way if the fuel was water laden-ed I could have the ability to show who was liable. That is why I kept such meticulous records. Remember, if you don't right it down it never happened.
