If any of you guys with 51-52's could measure the dimples or holes, relative to the defroster screws, it would be a great help!

I feel for you guys . Mine had the single vacuum wiper so I went with the dual cable drive system from Specialty Power Windows ( they make wiper systems too). They work great but drilling that second hole in the cowl was a little nerve wracking .

Then you know how I'll feel, if I have to drill two new holes, 3/8" away from the existing ones.... won't that look pretty?! Not like I'm going to try to weld them up with a full interior...

On my 52 the inner vent screws are 8 1/8" apart. The screws for the wiper are 2" apart and the center line of them 1/8" behind the center line of the vent screws.

Scott found his to be 1/4" back, Mike's are 1/8". Mine are real close to being on the same line as the defroster screws. That 1/4 or so is about what I'm lacking to bolt up the new unit. Thanks guys!

PS -- Mike, I love that color on the dash!

Hmmmm. I measured mine as well. I also got the 8 1/8" on the dimples. But I measured 1 15/16" on the wiper hole centers. Hard to get the measurement you're looking for Ross, but it's about 3/16".

That about splits the difference! I think I have a plan to use my existing holes. I also see that the DS wiper hole on mine is clearly towards the windshield more than the other. I'm guessing mine may have been a dealer installed electric system, which means the holes had to be drilled with the windshield in. That would force the drill to be angled, I'm guessing, pushing the holes forward in the dimples.

Thanks again guys!

Now I have installed several Newport kits in different vehicles and they all needed a very small amount of tweaking but well worth it in every case. Now in my sons 51 F1 I installed their kit for replacement of the vacuum system and it bolted in and did not need the two center dash holes or any duct mods. I also used their delay switch kit and it all works great. No regrets and I look forward to my next Newport install.

Here's how far off my holes were, to allow installation without putting the linkage out-of-plane. The stock unit can with operate out-of-plane linkage (it has ball joints at the pivots), the New Port cannot. Once I moved the holes in the mounting plate, it slid right up easier than the stock unit ever has. I can't explain why things are so out of kilter.... but I got tired of trying to understand it, and just fixed it. Note the holes in the dash weren't just wrong fore-aft, they were too far apart.

That should do the trick Ross . So much better than grinding out slots and using big ugly washers .

Ross, did you say you tryed the factory electric wiper system (6V)?I have the vacuum motor now and I was thinking about upgrading to the electric unit.I have two of the 6V electric units now that works.I hate to dill the two dimples out in my dash though.I want to make sure it is worth while before I do this??
