Max PSI on a stock turbo

Just wondering if anyone knows what the max boost rating on a stock turbo, stock engine in a 2011 is. I know the gauge goes up to 40 PSI, but I don't think I've ever seen my go past 20.

Stock shouldn't go past 21PSI, with a tuner you can push 37-38 but not particularly good for the equipment and I wouldn't do it on a regular basis.

I think the C&C make more boost, that's why the gauge goes so high.

Really? That's interesting. Do you know the reason behind that?

Not sure, different turbo then our trucks. I was talking to a guy with a f550 and loaded he says it will hit 35ish psi.

I know I hit 35-38lbs easily and regularly if I step into it. But I have a tuner, and don't think the turbos going to last very long......so I'm preparing myself!

I would guess that the gauge goes to 40 for symmetry, like the way that the transmission and engine temperature gauges go to places that you don't like to see in normal operation.

Stock limit is 21.

I brother has a VW, and its speedo goes to 180mph.

I didn't think it would do 180mph if you dropped it out of a plane. What a gauge reads to - doesn't mean its capable of it.

Thanks Trent, I've often wondered about that. I've never seen mine go much above 20#.

H&S detuned their program to max. Out at 32 psi. Due to possible failures beyond that threshold.

This f550 looks to hit 30+ psi pretty easy. Can't see ford making another gauge for our trucks just cause they make less psi, when they can use the same for both....

My truck sees 34-36 psi every day and has for over 2 yrs and 20,000 miles and haven't had any problems so far. Not sayin its good for it or not going to blow up, just saying what mine does.

I can't really speak to longevity but I just last weekend pulled the car trailer to VA. from Nashville, TN. This was the longest I've pulled the trailer with this truck and I towed in the tow tune from SPE with mild trans tuning. There were quite a few grades that made me nervous maintaining 65mph and boost was at 31Psi+ for miles at a time. Truck never skipped a beat. I'm much less concerned with the boost pressures after this trip as I don't hammer on the truck too often but it has seen 34psi before on on ramps and such. If it can take the constant pressure it took up those grades, the occasional full throttle blast shouldn't be to awful bad for her. Trailer weighs in at a little over 11k loaded (Pace Shadow GT 30ft)

So, if Ford designed the 6.7L Scorpion and powertrain to run 30+ psi in 450/550 applications, why do they make up excuses to deny our warranty claims when we add a tuner?

Not full on DPF delete (not that that should even matter), mind you, just any little piggyback. They'll warranty repair failed trans' and turbos in the "big truck" applications running a different turbo and no wastegate/much higher boost pressures, but they say if we want a few more psi, it voids our warranty? How does that work?
