Donor Truck for 66 F100

I found online a 79 F100 with the same motor and trans as the one in my current truck (has been swapped from original), the donor trucks has some extras like a nice seat, headliner, new brakes, etc.

It would make a great donor truck, if everything will swap over. Can someone please let me know if the 79 F100 will work? I havent contacted the guy yet, but I'm assuming the 79 has disk brakes on the front, and power steering.

I plan on contacting him for some pictures, he didn't have any on the listing.

He wants $1000 but its been listed for over a month now so he may come down a bit, if he still has it.

Thanks,
Richard

Richard, the 79 should work with the engine and tranny that you want. You will need to use the complete I-Beam set, & not try mix & match.

Since you are looking towards $1000.00 you surely want to try to sell donor sheet metal to help recover cost.

Thanks,

I plan on using the rear end, front suspension, i-beams, motor, transmission, steering column, power steering pump, brake booster, and maybe even the bench seat if it will fit.

Then I'll part out not only the rest, but the original parts off the 66.

Is it possible to just swap the body parts, use the full chassis? What would that entail?

Rear end is not a direct swap. It is wider and the spring pads are in a differing location. Existing leaf pads or new ones will need to be placed and welded. And if you already have a nine inch there is no basic difference between the 66 or the 79 other that with and a possible 31 spline carrier.

I would not swap i beams as you have zero way of knowing if they or the radius arms are good or bad and in alignment. All you need is from the spindles out.

Wheelbase is different and frame is wider after the cab to accommodate the rear mounted in frame fuel tank. entails cutting the frame to make is shorter.

Also it may not be legal to re fame the vehicle in the state you reside.
