Ordered my remote start yesterday!!

I am so excited. Couple years in the making, I finally ordered my autostart for my truck. A Viper 5704 alarm, autostart, and keyless. Been talking to WickidPissa about this and he has been a big help. I hope all goes well when I install. Any suggestions please let me know.

Do you mean remote start? If do I have a viper setup that came with my truck when I bought it. Works flawless and is great this time of year.

Nice! Its a great feature to have. I have noticed I'm using more fuel than usual this winter since I'm using mine, though.

Ya that's the way it goes. My truck gets warmed up before plowing anyways. This way at least I don't have to go out in the cold to start it this time

I actually don't see a huge diff in fuel usage but then I let the truck warm up even when it's warm I don't like the start and go.

I had mine installed by a local installer a viper 5051 on my truck. I can definitely say that my mileage tanks in the winter and it's almost definitely because of the remote start. On days I use it, depending on how long I let it run it can be 2-3mpg. But its sooooo nice to get into a warm truck when it's 10 degrees outside.

Yep, I plow commercially. Getting in a cold truck sucks. I am looking forward to it, know if I can just track down all the wires needed.

The factory set up on mine is programmed to shut the truck off if it idles for 15 minutes...but when it gets down to the teens and below in the mornings, I suck up the increased fuel cost from idling in exchange for a warm cab, and some of the mechanical components being warmed up for less wear. I try to be environmentally conscious, despite driving an F-250, and only use it when it is quite cold out. Certainly a nice option to have, although I guess I could just plug in the block heater and have warmed coolant and quick heat if I just got in a went.

I was the same way. Wanted an auto start but by the time you got it installed it was out of my price range. Got the total system on amazon for $170ish. Local shop wanted like $500 installed. You need some extra replays but eBay has them cheap. Have about 6 hrs into it so far. Still havering some bugs worked out. But have been taking my time so I do it right to. Have some members on here helping out to. I would say if your good with diagrams and wiring go for it. Saves a lot of money. Check out my thread in the electronics forum for more info.

Fwiw, I had mine installed for 315~ at a sound/tint shop. The unit itself was 120, then 15 for an extra module because it was a ford (o_o) and the rest was install.

Shop around. Most shops that sell the units will do the install if you buy it from them for much cheaper then just any shop putting any remote setup in.
