Went to the local NAPA for hydro transmission oil for a 400 JD mower today and the parts guy tried to sell me 15w/50 engine oil, I tried to explain that it took low visc hyd oil not engine oil and was rewarded with a *** chewing....... Looks like I'm going to be driving farther for parts or using Rockauto.com as they are very uncustomer friendly. The nice parts guys are even less competent.

Probably could go to the local farm store and get the hydraulic oil there.

I'll gladly drive the extra 15 miles now, or the 30+ that would've had to driven that day.
It's pretty rare that that I get pissed but after this I should have taken this "parts guys" advise from two weeks earlier on a bearing, "I don't want to mess with it you should go to -----".

If he is stating it that way, you obviously aren't important enough... very poor customer service and attitude. That kind of store survives on being convenient and the old buddy system...

The next nearest parts store is 30 min round trip away, if there was better competition the service would likely be a higher priority.
They have had some good guys there but they are always off to better money and most young guys today are lucky if they can find the spark plugs on a truck so the you get bottom of the barrel part smart people. I'm over being pissed but will no longer buy parts locally just to give them the business.

I have about the same issue here, although the guys that took over the Carquest in town I will do business with. The previous owner was such that I only went there if I was desperate and had to have it now. The ones 15 miles away are a NAPA that I have no issues with, but on hand inventory wasn't always the best, and the other Carquest I avoid because the owner isn't trustworthy.

Now if the weather would agree with the calendar... It is improving on that aspect though. We actually were tied for the most sub-zero days in the october1 to March 31 period... Hopefully those are done.

Good morning Iowa, welcome to the last day of winter! We had a dusting of snow last night, but it won't last, should be in the 50's today. I'm hoping the temps go up from here.

Drove in a little on the way to work, saw evidence they had some before I got there, btu that was it. Not much left of the snow drifts, some of the piles are hanging on.
