Behind the numbers (err Threads)

So take a look see at the pic blow. Does it make sense to see that the 6.4 and the 6.7 section is in a dead show down? How about the the 6.0 which has approx. 240% more threads than that of the 6.4 and 6.7 combined.

Obviously user base and subject matter play a key role here as well as marketing of products and what not. But I am surprised to see that with the 6.4 having 3 more years of road time that the numbers are so close to that of the 6.7.

For the 6.0; With as many tsb there are, one could expect the high thread count I guess.

Any other ideas on this why we see this trend?

6.0 11 years (429 tsbs)
6.4 7 years (146 tsbs)
6.7 4 years (53 tsbs) (ford-trucks doesnt have records for 2012+)

*tsb can impact all years but be counted for each year

In my opinion, there are a lot of factors behind that. The biggest in my opinion was how well the economy was doing and how that affected sales (# on the road). 6.0 road the success of the 7.3 and a good economy. 6.4 lived in the shadow of the 6.0 issues and a tough economy (not as many on the road).

6.4 was a much more limited run motor. I agree the bad economy didn't help.

I'd be really interested in seeing the total number of 6.4s and now 6.7s produced to date. I think it is all speculation at this point but what if it was a 1/1 or even a 2/1 ratio? And if less 6.4s are on the road, were more still produced compared to that of RAM and Chevy?

I think we as a collective are aware of the 6.0 issues seen early on with what? Injectors, wiring harneses, Turbos, HPOP fittings EGR valves and EGR coolers.

So I can agree that both Fleet and Commercial usage may have been impacted but for the average Joe, I would think not so much.

The economy didn't help either, thats a great point too.

I think I am just rambling on. Not sure if any real data or trend can come out of monitoring this type of information. So much is missing at this time. Appreciate the replies though.

The 6.7s have already hit the 500k unit mark. I see more 6.7s on the road in my area than I do 6.4s. And I see more 6.4s than the equivalent year model Cummins and Duramax. There are 6.0s everywhere.

In my area there seem to be a lot more 6.0's than anything else, then probably the 6.7's. It is strange to see very few active threads in the 6.4.

I think the numbers follow a trend of :
-How many are operating on the road.
-How many out of warranty.

I expect the 6.7 section to shoot up in activity as time goes on, from how many are on the road, and how many come off warranty.

I think that it has to do with competition from other forums to be honest. There are lots of folks that used to post frequently here in the 6.4L forum only to upgrade and spend time in the 6.7L forum. I was one of them until I sold my 2011.

There are lots of diesel-specific forums out there that see more traffic than the diesel forums here on FTE.

Yeah but for every 6.4 in the world sold, another one is purchased; unless it's blown up and scrapped.
