I have a 2005 Excursion EB that is new to me. The heated seats will heat for a short period of time then go cold then after some time, sometimes 5 minutes sometimes an hour, it'll heat up again for a few minutes then go cold. When they heat it is extremely hot. The light on the switch always stays illuminated. Is this typical or do I have a problem? It seems that both front seats do it. Thanks in advance!
My 02 limited comes on for a preset amount of time, and turns off when the time is up then I have to push the button to get it to heat up again. I don't know if mine is normal or not.
My '05 will heat up and after 'some' amount of time turn off. On long drives, if i forget to turn off the heated seats, they will come back on.
Thus, i suspect they have a max on timer, and some longer off time..
It sounds like my seats are working as designed. I've owned many vehicles with heated seats and I've never had one that shuts itself off then comes back on.
I wonder if there's a work around. It would be nice to have two or three heat settings and have them stay on.
