fuel economy question

Hi. I have a 1989 f150 2wd regular cab, long box with a 302 and a c6 trans. also with a 308 rear end and 235/75/15 tires. i am currently getting about 9-10 mpg, how bad/good is that with the winter blend e10 gas that we currently have in northern New York? I have a bit of a heavy right foot. (I accelerate quickly but not hard enough to spin the tires)

Sure! I get 15-17 with my AOD 4 speed, I drive mostly on the highway and on backstreets though, and I'm soft on the gas unless I get bored.

9-10 MPG sounds about right with a C6 and aggressive driving. If you take things down a notch, you could probably get 13 or so out of it.

Well yeah, that will have a bit of an effect on fuel mileage.

My 302/AOD with 3.55's get 13-14 around town on average. If I grandpa it more I'm sure I could eek 1 more out of it. I have my OD set to not come in until 45 mph.

Get that O2 sensor fixed and you will likely see a vast improvement. You do have to ease off it some and just let it putt along to see maximum mileage.

My '95 4.9L 5 speed only got 10.8 MPG on the last tank (first time I've calculated it). Although it has a high idle and two exhaust leaks that I tried plugging with cold weld. If it gets me to the spring time I'll hopefully overhaul it by cleaning the throttle body, new vacuum lines and a full new exhaust.
