My V10 met an untimely end how does the 6.2 compare?

Well my wife (she is ok, just bruised) rolled my beloved 08 v10, so lloks like i may be looking for a new truck when i nget home next month. Just wondering how the power in these 6.2 compare to the old 6.8s, anyone had both that can offer a comparison?

grab a lot of your favorite beverage lots of good reading.
exactly what I thought when they brought the 6.2 out, no better then the Chevy/Dodge rev happy torque less gasers.

Go to the Superduty forum and search through the Ohio meet threads. A lot of interesting outcomes when comparing the 6.2, 6.7, and 6.8 (2v & 3v).

My 6.2 would run circles around my old 2v V10. There's no comparison there.

You will read a bazallion posts about the the 6.2 being lazy off the line. I guess I just do not get it since being over the hill.

Back in my big foot days I would not have bought an F250 for jumping off the line.

If you give the 6.2 a chance it will spool up into the HP range and pound the pavement when pulling.

I am happy with it being not jumpy off the line and also shifting up to 6th and locking down when I am just putting around within the city limits.

Just an old pfart - I spose.

Nearly as much torque, it's just higher up the RPM range. Matched with the new trans, with the ability to go manually it'll equal your old truck. Go with the 4:30's if you're going to order. Sorry bout your old truck, but glad the wife's OK. Good luck.

You will get a lot of opinions, most like it some don't, some like the 6 speed some don't. Some don't like the lazy feeling the combination gets when it's not used hard some don't care.

I like the combination overall and would go with it again if something happened to the one I have.

If you want to get rid of the lazy feel. See mike at 5 STAR TUNING.
91 performance/tow is like having a different truck.
Not lazy anymore.

A lot like it, some don't. Some think it's really good for what it is and is intended to be, some think it should be an all aluminum 32V 10,0000 rpm race engine. The trans can feel mushy and slushy, but it gets the job done.

It doesn't have a peppy low end stock but keeps moving (holds speed) better than most gas trucks I've driven in the past.

First, and most important, I am happy to hear your wife walked away without serious injury.

As I have said in other posts, there is no perfect truck. Each of us has different needs and perhaps, much different expectations. I love my 13' 6.2 4:30 gasser as it performs very well for the purpose in which I purchased her, part time towing for up to 10G lbs, and a every day all purpose p/u truck. She likes to be driven hard and will scream if you let her. The 6.2 always feels solid . I have approx. 9G miles on her and have noticed she runs far more smoother now than at any time before. I will get her tuned inevitably, but I have to tell you, I am happy with her as is and I am usually the first one out of the pack from a red light. This truck will not please everyone of course and the bottom line is you have to be honest with yourself and realistic about your needs. Good luck w/ your decision.

My 6.3 with 4.30 gears has plenty of jump off the line stock, a lot more than you would think a 8K truck would have.

I don't doubt you there, my 3v v10 will walk away from my dads 2v v10 with almost identical setups towing.

Yup read the threads the others pointed out, i still own one of each, my own opinion ford took a step backward with the 6.2 from the 3v10,
Obviously there was probably more involved with gov regulations than ill ever know , to bring upon the change.
So be it.

I still think the ford has the best truck in the segment out of the big 3.

And if ur not towing /hualing all the time i think. you will get used to and like a new truck with the 6.2

,Especially if ur not jumping back n forth driving both all the time like me lol,

glad ur wife is ok

I'm not trying to imply that the 6.2 is a weak engine but disappointed that it isn't a step up like the 7.5 to 2v v10 to 3v v10. I was hoping for another improvement like they got with the 6.7, not almost as good or as good. That said the truck itself is way fancier whether that's good or not, I just want a nice truck that will pull big things that and I can work on it.
Sorry about your truck, but glad it protected your wife. You can replace a truck with $ but a life is priceless.
