Any particular problem? Too dim? Compared to what? Have they always been bad? Cloudy lenses? Etc.

I actually have an XL model 2008 F-250 with the sealed beams. After driving another truck with the lenses you're talking about -- I'm sticking with my sealed beams.

The light dispersement is just plain crappy....the lenses are clear, aimed correctly etc....just almost worth shutting off.

All full size trucks have horribly crappy lights. This is because the headlights are at a level that if they were on par with a cars headlights they would blind most other drivers. The work around is projectors. I've done it on my truck and the light output is better then my mom's 2012 limited edge. IMHO the reason Ford has not put them into the super duty is because they're "work" trucks, even though people buy them for personal use, they're still designed for contractors and projector housings can easily jump the price a few hundred dollars.

I agree but the 450 was made for pulling, hence tons of road time....and at this price point a couple thousand is nothing.

But they're not going to change the headlights for one model. Every 250-4(5)50 had the same headlights, doors, windows, taillights, interior at the same luxury level. Ford saves millions on production run time by having less options. If they decide to introduce projectors into the mold, they will be available in every 250-4(5)50 depending on trim level.

It has everything to do with cost savings. The headlights are adequate and pass DOT and NHSB requirements. That's all they have to do. Unfortunately, because of what the trucks are designed for and the main purchasers are this is how it was. Now that GM and Ram have HID projector options Ford will hopefully follow suit before they change the headlight styling so that all of you guys can add these to your trucks and get the light output you so greatly desire. Otherwise you'll have to go the route I went and have them retrofitted into your stock housings.

I got my kit from www.theretrofitsource.com the H1 4300k 35w complete kit. I got this kit because it required no real modification of the housing itself. I tried it myself and ran into condensation issues. So I took it to a retrofit company and had them do it.

If I had to do it all over again I would have gotten their FXR kit with 50w ballasts and had it done professionally the first time. But that's just because I'm a neat freak and my wants/expectations exceeded my abilities and when the retrofit company did the retro they modified the housing heavily for a much better result, so the modification needed for the better kit was nullified

It gets even worse the bigger the truck gets too. I drive an international prostar for work and I feel like I don't even have headlights when I am in places that aren't well lit. It's hard to even tell when a light goes out on it.

I agree with camo too. I had an xl with sealed beams and an xl with halogens at the same time and I liked the sealed beams much better.

The Transtar is the same way. The light doesn't show the deer in the ditches. Oh well, they are a lot nicer than the other trucks I've driven.
