Wisconsin to Charlotte NC - need help
#16
I work for my brother's trucking company, and we used to ship cars/trucks back and forth from Canada and the U.S. Your best bet is to ship it in an enclosed trailer. If it was my quote, i'd quote you approximately, between $1200.00 & $1500.00 dollars from point to point ( Depere to charlotte). We Are about to shut down for Christmas, but if you can wait a week or two, I may be able to find a reputable carrier to do the job. PM me if you need the help. Good luck.

Is that the door to door cost, 7000, or USA to your Australian port. If door to door that isn't too bad, I guess, but if to the port, customs, GST and other rip off charges will add thousands. I paid $5,800 door to door, from California to here and about $2000 of that was Australian charges. Great looking car, beautiful condition.

Thanks for the picture, Ross. Seeing the apparent condition of the car, I reiterate my previous post to ship enclosed. How well would that cloth top that was engineered to withstand road speeds of maybe 50 MPH, stand up under hours of wind at say 70 MPH.
That is one pretty car.

I've seen enclosed transport service offered on a couple of sites that cater to older vehicles. The AACA forum (Antique Automobile Club of America) has a guy that frequently posts and he has been doing it long enough that if he was marginal, there would be plenty of negative comments but I haven't seen any. Also check out the Ford Barn forum, could be the same guy but again I don't think he would have any shelf life if his service wasn't top notch. Charlotte, although not a port, has a Free Trade Zone, and shipping containers are common on the Interstate between Charlotte and Charleston, SC. About a 3.5 hour trip. Good luck...nice looking car. Hate to see it leave the states but sounds like it is headed to a nice home.

Thanks for all the comments guys. Ilya, I can't get your link to open so Ross is going to call them for me tomorrow. Aus 56, that price was pick up at the port but all import costs included, just drive it away. Allan, I did think of stuffing it full of parts but was concerned about the logistics of getting them to the car. Also a bit worried about stuffing parts into an original 81 year old interior. It may be leaving the states but it is going to a loving home with 8 other Pontiac sisters!
