2004 6.0 will not crank after filter change

I really need some help. I had a fuel leak at the fuel pressure regulator. Changed filters, used motorcraft, and the regulator and replace fuel/water seperater plug. Now it will not crank. The pump is working fine and filling up the filter. When I did get it cranked and the pedal to the floor nothing happened. Can't get the rpms up and all. Only about 1000. Ford place want $180 to diagnose the problem. So that means I'll have to pay a wrecker to get it there first. Any help will be appreciated.

Does the fuel pump buzz a few seconds after turning the key to on. Is there fuel in the upper filter bowl? If yes on both, I'd bull the filter caps and double check the o-rings and retorque.

Off the wall a bit but the small harness that goes under the regulator to the fan shroud could cause a no-start. If I understand right you replaced the regulator? Maybe the wire is pinched somewhere.

If you did the blue spring upgrade, did you have any parts left over?

fuel pump does buzz and fills filter. Don't know what you mean by blue spring upgrade. But if you are talking about the regulator, then no there where not parts left over. I should mention that I have replace the filter 3 times and checked all orings.

Sorry, read your post again and see you mentioned pump working and filter check. Maybe a connector unplugged or got leaned on during the work. Fan speed sensor at the shroud, map sensor on intake tube. Also could check LPO system by pulling oil filter and pushing drain back valve in bottom of housing. Should fill up with oil in 10sec or less when cranking.

Here's a link to the no start checklist, something might ring a bell.

This is why you cycle the key 6 times (from what I remember) then start when changing the fuel filters.

Install a fuel pressure gauge and you can see when the pressure picks back up. It also helps rule out fuel problems in no-start cases.

Won't crank, means starter is NOT engaging.
No start, means starter engages but engine won't fire.

It sounds like you got it running, pedal to floor rpms won't go above 1000.

You probably have air in lines, turn key on. but don't try to start. Then key off, back on again. Do this 3-6 times waiting 20 seconds while key on. This pushes air out of fuel lines.

If it still won't start and run well, you likely have installed filter, cap, regulator housing cover, hfcm plug improperly and o-ring isn't sealing properly letting air in.
