gauges

I have the billet dash for my 49 F1 I am ready to get the gauges. My dash is cut for Dolphin gauges. I do not know anything about them. So has anyone used this gauge if so what do you think? Or what gauges are others using?

I put the Dolphins in mine, they seem to work OK. The only thing that I don't like is that when they are lite at night the speedo lighting is a little different that the other gauges.

I've always preferred Auto Meter.

I have Dolphins in my 37 Buick, have worked fine for the last 2 years. They are the only aftermarket company I have found that uses the GM 0-90 ohm sending unit for the gas gauge which makes it easy when I retrofit GM tanks into older cars.

I had the same problem with mine, I called Sean at Dolphin and he sent me another pronto no questions asked and was well over a year when I had purchased them but didn't discover until everything was wired up. They very good to deal with.

I used Dolphin gauges in my 53....so the clustered type. They went in well. I can say that I had to read the instructions for the sending unit a couple of times before I understood what I had to do to set up the float.

if you haven't bought the gauges yet, can I ask a question.... how bout getting 70's era gauges (repop, nos, used, etc) and then skin them using the skin kit from classic haulers or macs... original look, new technology, 12v+
