I was thinking of a giant weight you put in the back of the truck!
I know those ballasts, it's the only reason why my HID conversion didn't get past one headlight! I usually just run around with my quad in the back of the truck. That little 300lb blaster helps those dual's sink in better. Speaking of which, Do you know where I could get a better mount to make the mirrors I got stick out farther to see behind the truck?

dually's need more traction on wet, icy surfaces....
some gravel, bags of sand or a couple hundred lbs of concrete blocks will help.
another option is, to run without your inner tires...

right.. the same thing that makes duallys great for heavy loads, more tire square inches on the road, makes them less good when the the road is slippery. more square inches means less weight per square inch.

Might only be my opinion, but the best place for those retro West-Coast mirrors is in the trash... Huge blind spots with those things.. Look for retro-fit kits for more modern "extendable" mirrors...

Or, you could just toss those mirrors into the bed for more ballast!

Right, well, 20$ set of mirrors, no big loss. If I went with modern mirrors off a newer 350 Dually, It would require some modifications to the doors. But I need to fix the internals of the door anyway(driver window is shot).

Well eventually, some day, it'll be a 4X4 dually. And I'll swap the bed for an easier maintenance flatbed.

This thread is totally derailed. But I will throw out an option for better mirrors. Search your local junkyards for the factory pre 96 tow mirrors. The big ones where you can have the heads in, or push them out and flip over. Most junkyards smash them when they grab the trucks with the loader, but my brother and I scored 3 good ones in one trip for his old truck. Junkyards sell them for pennies. Like these.

They also do make a bracket that attaches to the frame of your mirror and extends the mirror out. My dad had them on his 1990 F150. I was pretty little then and have no idea where he got them or what brand they were or anything like that.

Some place in Canada the boy scouts used to sell sand bags for weight in vehicles. Especially the days before 4x4 was common.

Tires make a big difference. big fat wide hob knobbing, howling mud whompers will suck in the snow.

Sand bags are sold around here. Boy Scouts and just plain retail outlets.

60 Lb bags. I usually put 8 of them in the bed. Makes a big difference.
