Apparently electricution can be the answer...

so, I have been working on replacing the engine in my girls 96 saturn (whole other story) in my grandparents pole barn, and while its a bit warmer now, it was around -10 when i started, so i drug out one of dads old knipco torpedo heaters to see if i could get it to put out a little heat. i did the filters, cleaned the air pump, cleaned the ignitors (not the spark plug style) it fired up and seemed like it would work so i got some fuel, it fired off but refused to stay running.

i adjusted the air pressure, cleaned the jet, readjusted the spark. etc. fought it off and on for two days before i finally got it to run, but only with the cover off. then the motor stopped wanting to start on its own.

so like the genius i am i was reaching in and manually giving the fan a little help. i got my hand over a bit too close to the ignitor wires, and yeah...

now I have absorbed alot of energy in my day, but this one was actually able to lock my jaw enough to make it sore after the breaker flipped and shut it down. I was sure warm after though!

girlfriend wasn't too happy and told me that i cant work on it if whe's not around (she was at her little sisters christmas program when this happened).

and well, i didn't listen. i finally got cold enough to give it another go. I gave the fan a hand starting off and it went, but it was having trouble lighting, so i set the cover back down on figuring i would have to shut it down, but as soon as i set it down, it lit, ran up full blast and ran two hours full blast and just as cleanly as a knipco gets on #1 fuel before I shut it off. now I wish i would have electrocuted myself days ago...

Yep, certainly can relate to how a few K volts can certainly stimulate the grey cells, may take a day or so for the spots to go away.

Electrocution is the wrong word. It kills. You got a real good shock. It gets me thinking when I get one. Thinking of how to avoid doing it again. Glad your heater is running.

Seriously?

She's going to sit around in a -10 barn and watch you work on her car?

WoW! That must be love! Does she know CPR?

i'm gonna forward this to her...

She wasn't just watching, she was learning how to work on it herself, and of her own free will too! and when the engine we swapped in turned out to be worse than what came out, we fixed the old engine, and swapped it back in. and with little exception she was right there. she even showed up with her own thermals...

and yeah, shes even up to date on her CPR cert.

Sounds like the perfect woman to me----does she cook too?

Does she have any older single sisters?

Sounds like a good girl. If she can't cook I bet she can learn. Mine didn't cook when I met her but she could paint cars like a pro. I taught her how to cook.

no... she's the oldest... and yes, she can cook, however thats usually something that I do (whats oddest about that is that I have four sisters that don't cook much, but my mom unintentionally instilled cooking into me)

Anna (my GF) is actually looking forward to attacking the restoration of my aunts 65 mustang with me.

It's good to hear someone write about their own mistakes for a change. Oh sure, the mistakes get written about, but it usually only covers a sentence or two in the obituary. Glad to hear you're okay.

Rather than electrocution, it sounds more like you just released some excess electrons in the system.
