Lets see those 2wd

The 4x4's have their off road threads as do the lowered 2wd's. Lets see yall's off road capable 2wd's whether they're stock, lifted, or have big knobby tires, lets see them. List what you have done to your truck and tire size.

I don't have any pictures as I am in the process of building mine but here are the mods. 2 inches of lift from add a leaf springs in the rear, 3 inch coil spacer for the front and have the I beams bent, 31 inch Kanati Mud Hogs from Sam's Club or Wrangler authority's from Wal-Mart (don't rag me I know Wal-Mart is the devil) Do yall think 31 inch tires would look to small it is a 1978 F100 custom 300 straight 6 three on the tree with sagging springs all the way around, and painting it the original color light blue and give the dash a new coat of Ford Blue. Grandpa bought the truck new in 1978

I will give it a shot.

1979 F100 2wd right hand drive, 300 Inline 6 with 3 speed, suspension still stock, running 33x12.5x15 mud terrains. Still planning to lift it to create some more room for the tyres. Here are some pics:

That's is sweet I am trying to get mine to look like that. I guess 31's would look too small if I lifted it. Thanks for the picture

Justin.Hoeben What kind of gas mileage are you getting running those muds and did you have to change your gear ratio?

So what size are the wheels, with tires that size?

There is a thread here somewhere for the 2wd's. If I remember right it's 100 + pages. I was looking for it yesterday but couldn't find it.

Cant really say at this stage. Only got the truck on the road a few weeks ago. The rims that i have is 15x7j. I only inflate the tyre about 1.5bar to maintain flat tyre profile so that tyres wear down evenly. I am not sure about gear ratio. Stock 3speed gearbox with 9inch diff. Stock suspension. Fitted the wheels without any modifications. Only problem is my speedo is out with about 20km/h. So cant calculate gas. What i did do was. Filled the tank. Drove 115km and filled up again. Used 16 litres. But that was on open road. In town. The need drops quicker.

So with the 7" wheels, do the tires rub or scrub anywhere, like when you turn or go over a bump? I have 31x10.50x15's on my truck, with 15x8 wheels. I put new springs in the front which brought it up about 1.5-2". I also put some 2" blocks in the rear. Right now there is no rubbing, but I would like to put some 32x11.50's or 33x12.50's on when it's time for new ones. I'm just afraid to spend that kind of money on new tires only to find out they will be rubbing every time I turn a sharp corner. Here you can see the before and after difference.

After:

And they did scrub before, but not after. And I do like the look of your truck.

Hey Grubbworm. 1stly I really the colour of your truck. Is it matt grey? And the wheels you have now looks to fit nicely. With my truck the tyres in front are no problem. In the rear the wheel arches are quite close to the wheel. But thats the way the bed is shaped. It does rub a little now and then. But that might be because of leaf springs. My leafs in the rear and coils in front gives quite a soft ride. So in my opinion. 32x11.5 will fitt with your current setup. You can even try 33x12.5 dew to upgraded and stiffer suspension. Also your bed archers on that 80 model looks like it has more clearance. With a 8j rim the tyre will also sit nicer. I am no wheel expert. Just going with my experience. I have been driving like this for a few weeks. And the little rubbing does not bother me at all. But will be doing a lift soon as I plan to do some sand dune riding in the future and will need some more clearance.
