Correct once it got warmed up it started dripping

That would make sense for me. I dont start to see any oil dripping from the front of the motor until it is warm. And it continues to drip for about 15 minutes after it is shut down. That doesn't sound to me like an oil pan leak since the bulk of the oil is below the pan seal once shut down.

Ok so I'll run by the car wash and (carefully) clean the block and pan real well. I'll drive home immediately and let it sit.

I have a few questions. Does it matter if the engine is hot or cold when I pour in the dye? And how long should I wait before I start the motor after I've added the dye? I don't want to screw this up since I only get one shot at this.

1 - Engine oil temperature doesn't matter.

2 - Add dye product and start engine right away (the dye can't circulate through the system otherwise).

3 - Let the engine idle for about 10 minutes.

4 - Check for leaks with your black light.

Old school alternative to the dye:

Once the engine is clean and dry, sprinkle talcum powder all around the suspected leak points, start the engine, and you'll see pretty quickly where the oil is coming from.

Talcum powder, I wouldn't have thought of that one. Nice! Thanks for the info.

That sure sounds like mine when the oil cooler started leaking, but that is not in the front of the motor. Not to hard to replace the o rings though.

The oil cooler is a long shot for me. The foreword most part of the cooler is not directly in the front, but it is a lot of oil leaking so it makes me think it could be the cooler.

While the truck is running and warmed up, oil is dripping off the lip of the lower part of the block directly under the crank seal (replaced twice, it's not the seal LoL). It's hard to tell because of the turbulence created from the lower pully. It's about a drop every 5-8 seconds at idle, pretty significant.

I'm picking up the truck today at noon so we'll see what I can find.

I know of at least one other FTE brother who had a leak on the oil cooler, up front, and because of the air turbulence it was dripping from the opposite side of the engine. It's really hard to get a good look-see at the gasket face behind the cooler's front head, but that is a potential location.

So I got my truck back today. The shop definitely fixed the hard start, no power issue. It was the IPR, HUGE power gain, even from when it ran well before.

Bad news is the leak definitely is not the oil cooler. Just by looking at it there is no oil around the oil cooler at all. My only other hope is the LPOP or CPS are leaking. #&$-% I just know it's going to be the oil pan seal.

Pull the fan so it's not blowing air while you are checking for the leak. It will help narrow down where the oil is actually coming from.
