5.4 Cold weather transmission sticking

When I fire up my rig when its below ten degrees, even in neutral or with the clutch depressed, I can feel the motor trying to engage something in both the stick and the clutch pedal. It is enough to make the motor sputter and die. If I hammer on it for a few seconds i can feel it breaking up then it runs great. Any suggestions on an alternate gear oil that I wont lose protection with. Any ideas will be great!

Thanks!

How about one of those stick-on oil heaters? If it's that cold you should also have the block heater plugged in.
If the clutch isn't releasing, sounds like pressure plate or throw out bearing issues...
