Strange grinding

On my way home last night I prest on the brakes and the was a rhythmic grinding that slowed in frequency and the vehicle slowed and stopped when I quit applying the brakes. it seemed like it was coming from the passenger side so I tool that wheel off and it looked fine. If the rotor is warped how can you tell.

Did the brake pedal pulsate in sync with the grinding noise?

Are you sure it came from the front? You could try this - find a place where it's safe to experiment, and get up to some speed and press LIGHTLY on the parking brake pedal. Be ready to release it right away so the brakes don't drag. Just enough to see if you get the noise. If you don't, then that suggests the noise is indeed from the front. Just don't apply them so much that the rear end locks up, and make sure you're in a place that if the rear end DOES lock up, you can safely stop the truck.

As horrifying as this sounds I actually took it to the mechanic.....I don't have all the tools I need to do it right and the mecanic said that I may have caused this with improper bearing preload. Not to mention as of this morning three vehicles were down leaving three people to fight over two vehicles so I need it back on the road asap. I will give an update when I hear something.
