Yep, that is a strange dash. The seller thinks that it isn't a custom since he can't see any welds. Doesn't look like any that I have ever seen. And what is that anyway. Looks like a giant AC vent.

Me neither. If it is some sort of custom job, it looks very well done, from a long time ago.

That looks like the speaker grill and clock from a 53 or 54 Pontiac. I think I have one of those hanging on the wall in the garage.

Interesting. Looks like they did a decent job with it

The paint on the "vent" (speaker?) is visibly different than the rest of the dash. Has to be some mighty good welding. Note the radio part of the dash, look like 51-52 almost.

My best guess ... with the radio below, it's the speaker.

The person that did this must have read AXRacer's welding thread.

Dang you guys know your car parts. Maybe someone could let this guy know. Have him open the glove box. Maybe the sub woofer is in there.

It looks like the guy sacrificed TWO Poncho dashes to make the surround?! That's some welding for sure!

The speaker grill is interesting. Look at it close, they are not symmetrical.
Take a look at the spacing between the various rings, they are tighter together towards the top. Its not just an optical illusion, the silly part is made that way.
My guess is that from looking down from the driver's perspective it would look symetrical.

Looks like the guy who grafted it onto the 48 "corrected" the ring spacing?!
