Panel truck wheels

Hi all,
I have a 56 panel truck. I put a 60's 9" rear end that bolted right up. What rear wheels and back spacing are you panel guys using to get a wide tire inside wheel wells? I currently have 16" ford explorer wheels with 255 65s. I want a shorter tire, and I want them pushed out more. My current tires arm very close to inside of wheel well with over an inch and a half more room on outside of tire.....
Thanks,
James

James,
I currently have; old school L60-15s in the rear (radial 275\60R15) & H70-15 in the front (radial 235\70R15). You really need to figure in your trans and rear end ratios so your not running your engine with too high RPMs. Probably want to be around 2,500 RPM while cruising.

I'm confused how you could have a '60's 9" with a bolt pattern that Explorer wheels bolt up to? Is it a truck rear end or a car rear end?

I'm running 15x8" rims with a 4 1/2 back spacing on my panel on the rear, I had a measurement of 5 1/2" from the face of the drum to the inner lip of the wheelwell opening. My tire is about and inch from that lip. Tire size is p255/60r15's which is just over 27"tall and 10" wide

No , my panel is built on a 72 c10 frame with a narrowed rear axles to the same width as original. I have room to put 10 wide rims if I wanted.
