Found a big truck -1948-1950 - F-5-7?

I found this truck in Rhyolite, NV this weekend while on a Jeep trip. It looks to me like a 1948-50 F-5 or F-7 with widow maker wheels?

More details if anyone wants them.

Did somebody tie a rope around the widowmaker as some sort of token insurance in case it blows apart? Looks like an F-5 to me.

That wouldn't do anything to keep the rim from flying off the center section. I suspect it's to keep the truck from being stolen.

Pete, is the house next to it jacked up for moving?

Hey, Stay out of my backyard!
No the house isn't being moved, that's the way I got it. the realtor said it was a special feature that made it easier to cool in the summer months. I paid extra for it just for that feature!

oh ya and the rope was to keep the goat from running off!

Josh, if I didn't know better, I'd think you were serious!

Here are a few more pictures. The land is managed by the BLM. The truck really doesn't fit in historically as the town became a ghost town in 1920. It is a shame to see the parts turn to rust. On the other hand it is very dry so the real danger is vandals.

LOL. I wonder, did that meteorite, that landed on the hood, make a sound?

That's from the vandal that fell off the roof of the Mercantile building. Just before he stole the drive train.

If I were a smart vandal, I'd take the front clip, running boards, doors, steering column and strip the dash. I'm just sayin....
