New to me 55

Hey all,

I picked up a 55 F-100, it's been worked by a somewhat armature about 10 years or more... Volare front end (broken at welds, no boxing or fish plates), 400M motor, C-6, and a 350 ford posi 9"...
Anyway I have it torn down to the frame to re-do the Volare mess. I know I should probably just chop it off but funds dictate...
The 400 has a bent rod and frankly I want something different, Now I just happen to have a very nice built 8BA Flatty and a C-4.
I did a search and I cannot find a single 55,56, or 57 with a flathead. So how come?? Other than the obvious (Horsepower) is there any reason this won't work??

looking for opinions,
Thanks'
Chris

I believe the flat head was replaced with the y block by that time, so thats why you dont see any with a flathead unless someone wanted to run a flathead.

Yeah I got that part, I just grow a little bored of seeing the same ole small or big block in the hot rods, I have a 33 Cabriolet that's stock and finished so it pretty much sits in the garage and looks nice.
I just want a fun hot rod & thought I would do something different, unique, or maybe just plain ole dumb :-)

Welocome to FTE! I've never seen a flathead in a 55. I think it would be very cool.
Be sure to take pictures and show us what you have. We love pictures around here.
Even showing pictures of your messed up front end can be helpful for folk.

If I had a great running Flatty I would put it in my Bronco with a 5 speed manual.
200 HP is not uncommon for them with a little work.

Welcome to FTE! Anything that gets another old truck out of the garage and back on the road is good thing. Enjoy the ride.
