Finally started my York Air today

Thanks to Todd for reminding me. I had some time today, I was planning on checking out the rear end I bought for my dually conversion, but the shop is kinda full, too cold to move my poor truck outside, so I decided to work on the york.

I used a piece of angle, 3/8 thick x 4" x 6 1/2" x 10" long. I had it laying in the scrap pile, and it was just perfect to cut up. I wasn't quite wide enough, so I put the piece of angle on top. It's 3/8 think too, and hangs over to the rear of the truck, two mounting bolts through it to the pump, and one to the alternator bracket. Center cut out for access to the fill plug. The angle did two things, it made the piece wider for the back bolt holes, and reinforced the top. It's quite strong. The mounting holes are all elongated, so you can pry the york over and get the belt tight, then tighten the 4 bolts on top. It's a 32 inch belt. It's sure nice of the bracket on the motor to have 2 threaded holes on the front below the alternator, they came in handy.

The other part I got done today is moved the IC pipe on that side. I had ordered a 3 inch somewhat of a "J" bend a long time ago to use. It was real easy, I cut that piece 3 times, turned a piece or two to line things up, tacked it, removed and welded up. Painted and installed. I welded a lip on the end so the boot doesn't blow off on high boost, kind of like Jake's are, but a little more crude. It will work though.

Tomorrow i may see about getting the tanks mounted. Then its just a matter of running lines and wires and hooking it up.

Yes, it will be a nice addition to the truck for sure! I'm not real good at getting this all figured out how to wire and plumb, but I've got a friend coming over to the shop tomorrow who is good at this stuff and can guide me a little bit. I also pm'd TJ who has this on his truck, but he's not on here much anymore so we'll see.

Thanks guys. I've only been planning on doing this for 4 years...

Brad, it should be able to set it at 150psi. I'm unsure of the cfm though.

JR, it's a double pulley from kilby. It just replaces the stock pulley.

The York compressor is impressive.
This is from the kilby website for the compressor they sell.
4cfm at 90psi and capable of 8+

I was hoping the pulley was an add on thing because I have an overdrive alt pulley, but they offer a 1.9" diam to help out. Now I'm interested for sure on doing this.

4-8 cfm is better than most 110v air compressors, being that they only put out like 5-6. Granted on a truck you don't have the big air tank reserve, but on the trail or beside the road, it will do just fine. It's not like this is his big service truck for commercial use.
I have a big twin head liquid cooled compressor with a 6 rib serp belt, that puts out some air, but won't fit under the good of my psd. So I'll do this York addition soon I think.
