Thinking about a 351w carb to EFI Swap, need some help
Hoping to get some good advice as I usually do on here...I have a 73' ranger that has a Jasper 351w out of a '83 E-250 van. It has probably around 30K on it now and this truck is my daily driver. The motor is a stock 351w with a Comp 270H cam, Edelbrock intake and a Summit carb(probably the reason I'm thinking about do the swap). I was wondering which years would be a good EFI donor to use. I want the good drive ability and reliability of EFI. I'm not racing or towing with this truck, just a good sounding daily driver and cruise around town in. I understand that 92-up have alot more attached to the computer, Im looking for just the basics that I can get away with as far as sensors and wiring goes. I'm running a C-6 now but would like to go to AOD someday and EFI would be the best way for me to do this. Any advice on what I need and good donors for the intakes and computer setup would be greatly appreciated.

You can get most of what you need in EFI parts from an '87-91 F series truck.. of course it has to be a 5.8 motor, and if you can find one with a C6 or manual trans the wiring harness and computer will do the trick as well. The cam in your motor will have to be changed however, it's a poor match to a 351 with stock heads anyway. EFI wants a cam with no more than about 210deg duration at 0.050" lift and 114 deg LSA though that can be stretched to 112 LSA if the duration is kept modest. Something like the Howerd cam..http://www.summitracing.com/int/part...view/make/ford
