Engine turns but wont start

I recently bought a 2003 f350 7.3, I ordered a tuner for it and tried installing it, at one point while the ECM was still connected I did something and it sparked. Then the powertrain relay (302) started clicking really fast. It clicked in the on position. I switched it with another and it was also clicking. So since I sparked the ECM I figured I messed it up. I ordered another one and it's doing the same thing. Then I pulled fuse 45 (which was good) and put it back in. When I turned truck to on position it wouldn't click anymore, but it still won't start...anybody have an idea of what it could be? Ive ruled out the ECM, powertrain relay (302) and fuse 45, I don't know what else to check. PS not very technical with vehicles

I don't know this for sure, as I have never had a chip, but IIRC, you need to disconnect your batteries before hooking up a chip, or you can fry your PCM. Hope I'm wrong. Anyway, it's a bump back to the top for ya.

Yes, that is what may have happened. you Have to disconnect the batter's to install a tuner or chip so you don't short this out..

Also check fuse #30 it runs the PCM..

Not trying to start a war but you do not need to disconnect the batteries to install a tuner. There is something else going on here.

To the op: have you checked the pins on the bulk head connector on the PCM? I have seen the pins get bent and short against each other.

I didn't have my batteries disconnected when I installed mine, and my truck starts every time. Jody's instructions state that the key needs to be removed from the ignition, so that's all you need to do.
I recommend contacting your tuner, they've most definitely ran into this type of problem before I'd imagine.

I have had my chip in and out at least 6 times. Never have I had my batteries unhooked. You should never have the key in the ignition, but batteries hooked up is ok, I think. I agree with Steve and Scott, there is something else going on here.

My apologies. I thought I had read something about the batteries being disconnected, but I stand corrected. My memory was refreshed, it was the key removed. Hey, at least I bumped you to the top.

No apologizing necessary Jeb. It probably is not a bad idea at all, just maybe not crucial.
