Cold Surging and Idle Jump on start

New to this forums, but hoping to get some answers on several things I'm experiencing.

Last week or so I have noticed something strange. I had my truck aligned at the local Ford Dealership and Ive noticed the last several times I drove it the following is occurring when cold, and only cold.

1. Jump in, turn the key to start, turns over in about 4-6 seconds then when it catches, it jumps up to like 1600rpms then returns to normal almost instantly.

2. Now when I drive, I get out on the road and I push the petal, I get what I call uncontrolled acceleration. I press the petal for what is normal speed increase on acceleration and the truck acts like I stomped the petal and the shifting goes erratic. Soft, hard, delayed shifts, etc but only when its cold. Once the truck warms up, no more issues. I replaced the icp sensor and was told to plug the engine heater in overnight. When I do, truck starts normal, no surge, no start rev.

I am running an performance tune from Superchips I installed with a CORTEX Tuner and have been for 3-4 years now with no issues. I am wondering if Ford didn't flash or update the software in my truck when I had the tuner programming installed or could it be something else?

Any help would be appreciated.

Try pulling the EGR Valve and clean that up, next would be IAT2 , and MAP Connection to Intake little Nipple gets clogged.as far as your tunes well the guys will have to chime in on this, Do you Have a Gauge to look at live Data from the PCM = like Dash boss - Scan GaugeII ? ETC ?

Running a scanguage II. FICM voltage stays at 48-48.5 When I am driving I usually monitor ECT-EOT's which are usually 5-12 degree's depending on outside ambient temp.

The oil I am using is the Rotella 5-40 Synthetic that everyone has mentioned to use. Also running Archoil 9100 in the mix as well.

FICM voltage should be above 45 at ALL times from KOEO, cranking and WOT not just while you are driving so next time you start it cold watch that FICM voltage.

Could be the ICP sensor.

I had a similar problem and the fix was this sensor. I have a 2003 6L so mine was loacted at the top rear of the block. Major pain to get at it.

OneTon4fun momma mia thats some avatar. Yummy... Oh yea the ICP sensor thing. My 350 was eating sensors for a few years then finally stopped. The one in it now is a couple years old. Not sure why it went through 3-5 sensors in 3 years but sure am glad it stopped eating them. I can change one out in about 20 minutes. lol

Considering it happened immediately after the truck was serviced at Ford more than likely the strategy was updated and your current programmers are not playing nice with it.

I have since reprogrammed with the newest tunes from Superchips. Shifts fine, but still get the revup on start. I have taken some readings on my truck while driving and idling, here are the idle results using an Scanguage II.

RPM - 670
MAP - 15.3
ECT/FWT - 186
EOT - 182
ICP - 633
IPR - 24.6
TFC - 1.36
SYNC - YES
FLP - 13.5
FMP - 48.5
HPR - 8.4
VLT - 13.8
FIA - 105
LOD - 36

These readings are after driving for 20 minutes to local CVS and idling while writing numbers down.

Had foot on the break sitting in parking lot. Radio was on, no heat or ac going. Will work on the other two. Have to program those values into my scanguage I think.
