Next year I will have to try it in my 95 F250 4x4 and see if I can get it airborne. Although, I don't expect to get the rear tires off the ground. I should have it by then.

On a different note. Was talking to my #2 mechanic (who lives across the street from me) awhile back about the Bronco's aerial acrobatics, and getting stuck twice while at Pismo, and he suggested the next time I go down there to take snow chains and put them on the rear wheels. They will act like paddle tires, and help prevent getting stuck. Anyone ever try this? I don't have snow chains, but found a set designed for off-road use for under $80.

I've never seen anyone out there with chains, Jim.

I think chains are about the last thing you'd want to put on. There's no solid bottom on a sand dune, so "digging" is only going to bury you quicker. The idea is to float over the top as much as possible. Even with paddle tires, the basic tire is a "balloon" tire designed to run low pressure and distribute weight. The paddles are just there to give a little something to push against, not to dig into the sand.

Also, if you get your wheels spinning at a high RPM and those chains happen to come off, it's gonna do some damage

I don't know, in theory I would think the chains would act like paddle tires. Since the tire itself will be aired down, and the chains would be the paddles. Still, I have never seen anyone out there with chains on either, and if it was such a good idea, I am sure someone would be running them. Can always try it and see if I get stuck LOL.
