I have a 93 4x4 3.0 engine with 5 speed m50d r1 trans. Won't go in 4th gear and pops out of 5th. thought about rebuilding but my brother said he has a good 5 speed out of a 98 laying around for free. I found in searches it has to be off a 3.0 to fit. the others don't interchange. of course the tag was not saved when removed so is there any measurement or whatever I can do to see if this is off a 3.0 engine for sure, before I pull mine. thanks for any help.

 

Does the 98 trans have the starter on the same side as your 93? If not, it is not a from a 3.0L.
