I wouldn't cut the pinch weld. Just make sure the vent goes from the tank to the pinch weld on a nice even angle. Then from the pitch weld up to the neck as well

Some time ago, I made the vent tank mod in both tanks and works nicely. so I agree that you have any other issue.

Fold the pinch weld up, similar to the mod required for an aftermarket downpipe.
