serial no.

I have a 1955 ford c600 coe and would like to decode the serial no.
*C60ZFR-26344* can anyone please help?

OK, by 1955 the data plate contained a lot more in formation that is not included in the serial#
C60= C600
Z= V8-256 cu in
F this should indicate the year and should be a number, the correct number for 1955 would be 5
R= Richmond (California) assembly plant

thanks I will get all info off the tag and post it. are you sure it is a 256yblock thought that was a merc. motor.

The 256 was a Mercury motor. The original Mercury Y-block, introduced for the 1954 model year, displaced 256 in
