Great looking truck. Welcome to our very exclusive club! Three cheers for another fridge truck joining the ranks of the living.

Yes, it does have the 429 & C6 trans. I had to use a summit racing aluminum radiator with an electric fan, & that gave me 1/2 inch clearance at each end.

So far, yes, but I replaced 100% of the brake systems before I did the motor.

Manual steering too. It's quite a interesting ride.

It is great to see you not only kept an orphan on the road, but that its still in the family. Plus its nice you made sure it will stop before you made it GO. My brother and I built a 429 CJ for his 56 F100, years ago. He managed to get in plenty of trouble with that one.

Congrats on getting it on the road. Must have felt great to drive to work for the first time. I really like the sleeper look.

I have a 429 sitting on an old tire up in the hay mow, I never get into any trouble with it that way. Every once in awhile when I walk by it, I think I can here it calling to me!

I'm 60 years old and the only gas v8 I've ever owned is a flathead, or should I say, a bunch of flatheads. I'm thinking a 429 would go really, really fast. And overhead valves to boot!

Thanks for all of the great comments guys. It’s a good feeling to finally have it back on the road. This truck is one year older than me, so obviously I grew up with it. My two daughters are also close to it since my dad used to pick them up from school in it.

Brakes are coming!! But my first goal was to make it run. It’s been in my way for 18 years, having to tow it out of the garage every time I needed to do something. My long term plan is a full restore when I retire, which is still a few years away. But at least I can now drive & enjoy the truck with my girls.

A bit of fun history: Not only is this is the 7th engine, but it is the 4th TYPE of engine!

My dad bought this with a 6 cyl... it was on the showroom floor when he walked in. After a few years, he realized it would not tow the boat very well, so he put in a 56' Buick 322 that a family member gave him. After that blew (4 times!), he traded it out with a 62' Chrysler 413 he had in the garage. It even had the push-button shifter! He drove it this way for close to 10 years. It was then parked after the trans blew. 18 years later, here we are.

I always hated the Chrysler drive-line, so I was determined to go back Ford. When a neighbor offered his 71 Thunderbird , I couldn't refuse. It got a full rebuild, & we estimate it’s close to 420hp.

So yes... Better brakes are coming!
