California Legacy License Plates

CA Legacy Plates

Haven't seen a thread on this board regarding these.

Hopefully the black / yellow plates will hit the 7500 mark by the end of 2014.

Seem little, if any, information being put out on these Legacy plates, believe the plan was mentioned at least 1yr. ago so if the tend continues; 5383 in a year, one would think another 2300 should be obtainable??? See where pre-order plate runs $50 then $40 for renewal fee: it's not clear to me if the annual renewal fee is in addition to the yearly license fee; if so, then I would consider opting for reproductions plates and just pay the one time cost; besides, there may be some of us native Californians who are trying to move out of state while we can still afford it.

$40 on top of the 3 commercial fees I have to pay for my trucks that aren't used commercially would really suck. Take me with you

Unfortunately; neighbors, who are also native Californians, built a 2nd home out of state and eager to point out the pro's and con's between state which led them to move; one of many, is the cost they claim is an annual license fee of $29. They are due back w/in next few days and I am interested to ask if that includes Commercial plates???

Up here in Washington state the normal trucks that I have do not require any type of Commercial plates like in California. Then the trucks that I have under a YOM license plate are a one time fee when you change title but that is it. Never supposed to be any sort of annual license fee on those.

It varies from state to state, with some being very reasonable.

I have been looking into moving to Texas. There are tax incentives for Californian to start businesses there...getting a contractors license in Texas is no big deal...and no smog for vehicles over 24 years!!! That is 1998, btw. I rent a 1 bedroom apt herefor $1050, was buying a 3 bedroom house from 1950s for $2600/month.....its crap

...End of rant
