1.0 housing review

Just got my truck back together and after letting it warm up I went for a quick ride.

WOW I should of listened to others about the 1.0 housing sooner.

It is unbelievable. It cleaned up so much of my smoke at take off. It also has a MUCH broader RPM range now. Before the turbo would lite around 2100-2200.

NOW it lites about 1800 and pulls HARD thru 3300. Similar to driving a Cummins

EGTs were a concern to me on the top end. But as of right now, I have no worries. Running it on the race tune I can NOT get over 1100*(it is 20* here this am)

I will be towing this afternoon and grossing out at around 21k so I will have more feed back.

97 CCSB 4WD DRW 7.3 5spd DP Tuner, 6637, 4" Flo-Pro SS Exhaust(3" DP), 99 I/C, T500,Cali Truck w/120cc Split Shot Injectors, 1.0 exhaust housing/WW2, Irate up-pipes,CCV Mod, Autometer gauges, Valair Organic clutch, PFM 2.25" RSK, PMF Traction bars, Rear Air bags,SD springs Front(V code)/rear(B code), 315/75/16s, (6)Alcoa 16x6 wheels

I really like mine. We both have very similar setups. In the 120 race the turbo lights up fast and I can hit 30psi without towing. ENJOY!!

I've been considering one as well but am still on the fence. I know it would help a lot having a 5 speed but I'm not sure with the 160cc injectors, much less with the hope of moving up in nozzle size one day.

I am still learning about different turbos and housings, and it's something I don't know a lot about yet, but that is a smaller housing than the stock correct?

That seems like a pretty good combo with stage 1s or split shots and still running the stock turbo. Brad, I'll be interested in seeing how it tows for you.

With 120's and IC you shouldn't have any issues.

160's with the 1.0 housing will kill the stock turbo. Ask Glenn.

I am sure on the race tune and towing I can get her too hot, but she is fine on the 80hp tune

Well that's pretty good. I'm thinking about something for Tyler's truck to get him a little more HP on a budget for towing. He's got exhaust, intake and a chip with canned tunes. I'm thinking a set of stage 1s, that housing and wheel, and an IC would be great for his needs, and not cost a fortune.

Bill if he doesn't do a lot of towing it would be a fun set up.

We tow quite a bit. His truck runs great, but it's pretty much stock and has 3.55 gears. We're planning on swapping the gears soon, but he needs more power.

I wouldn't run the 1.0 with 160's with a lot of towing. You'll never be able to use the 160's to there full potential. Egt's and back pressure would stay high.
