Tuning is not cheap either, it isn't legal, your truck will run much better, you MPG will increase a little. Lot's of pro's and cons, spend a little time reading and decide what way you want to go. The EGR valve replacement isn't a big deal, here's one from Ebay, new, $195.00.

Only thing to be aware of its the Valve itself. There are the orginal version which has the coolant line to it.

Newer valve deletes the line and the coolant is re-routed back to the EGR coolers instead.

I don't have the info anymore but when you get the valve the parts dept should be able to fill in the gap on that one.

truck has been parked for a week- went to take to the mech for repairs and it started but wouldn't idle or rev so it wouldn't make it- turned around into loading onto a trailer and hauling it out and then it wouldn't start.... dead dead batteries-- loaded and delivered though....

Well I guess we will see if the EGR is the only problem. They should get it back to you in a day or so.

I'd advise you to read your ESP contract carefully. I do not see EGR anything listed as excluded under any of the ESP levels. Alternator is listed as covered under all ESP levels as well.

Belts and tensioners should be covered under 5 year 100K. Don't recall if you are over it.

The tensioners are the problem..so that is the covered part. The belt was ruined because of it.

truck is an late 07 (08) with 110k on it so it is out of regular warrenty. the esp is the only one left. I was told the egr is emmisions related and falls under that and not under the powertrain esp- even though it is in the motor....

I will search for the contract though....... thanks
