On-Board Air Setups

I've got the Air Lift wireless air control system for my truck and want to add a tank to the system. What do you guys have for tanks and how do you have them mounted? Where did you mount a chuck for an air hose for tires? How big of a tank should I go with?

I've been looking into this because I want to be able to run air tools and air down and up at leisure so I've been looking into how they work. The viair 2 gallon tank can be u bolted to the frame under the passengers rear door. There's a few threads on here. I'm looking at a thin 5 gallon tank as in also looking to run Nathan air chimes

Threads I've been reading up on:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...d-love-it.html

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...estions-2.html

It really depends on your dimensions to what tank size you can run.

I placed a tank under the drivers door and used the existing holes right there under the door to mount it. I then had an aux port run under the door.

I know I've seen others post their set ups. Did you have any luck searching?

I've seen a few pictures but I know there are a lot more people with onboard air.

Senix, did you have to wait for the compressor to catch up when airing up tires?

It would air up regular car tires pretty easy and fast. It was able to keep up.

80 psi on truck tires was more difficult. I truly needed a bigger tank for that.

1 gal tank was sufficient as well for the air bags.

You can probably put two small tanks between the frame rails between the X bracket and the bed (if you lifted the bed for the install). Nice and clean, and protected.

Fellow FTE member EpicCowlick did a Train Horn set up with Onboard air to do tire inflation as well on his 2011 F350 Superduty 6.7. He even made a little video as he did it.

Have a look and see, maybe it will give you some ideas for mounting and what not. Hope this helps.
