Which battery for my new 1960 223 V6 F100?

I recently got this amazing step side F100 1960 223 V6 truck and she runs good. I do need to buy her a new battery though as the one I'm using is a borrowed deep cell. The Black Friday sales are here and it's time to shop. Some have said the Napa 7280 is a copy of the original. But, what CCA or dimensions would I need to get close to this with a lesser priced battery? 29NF is the same type? Thanks

What type of charging system is in your truck? You want to match the battery type to the type of charger. For example, the latest types of AGM batteries would not be charged correctly with a generator system. Waste of money in that case. Just sayin'.

you can run whatever fits in the tray, I have a Bass Pro 600 CCA. PO made a bracket to hold battery down, not original looking, but does the job!

Thanks for the advice guys. Leaning towards the Napa 29NF Part Number: BAT 7280.
$103 with a AAA card. CCA of 390 does seem a little low though but if it's close to stock then I'm good:

You won't be sorry with the NAPA battery. I put one in three years ago and it sits all winter and goes strong in the summer. Can't remember the price but here's a link for another one of similar size. Do you have the original battery tray and clamp? You will need it for the NAPA battery.

29NF-420 at Battery Giant

Never dealt with them though.

By the way, Chevy calls their beds stepside and Ford calls them flaresides.

I've been using nothing but Interstates for years. I have a 29NF in mine, it's six years old but I don't deal with the cold weather. Thinking about it I should replace it . Advantage to having a stick and a generator, a little push and away you go

All good advice guys and I appreciate it. Doesn't look like there's any Black Friday deals on that 29NF but at least oil is on sale. Any idea on choice and amount for my 223 V6?

where are you located, weather? I run Castrol GTX 10-30 with lucas additive here in CA. I have only ever run GTX...I have a feeling you are going to get a lot of opinions on this one!

I also run lead additive in my premium gas, may wanna look into that as well.

with filter change, my 223s take about 6 quarts. Stay away from oils that you would use in a new car or truck, not enough zinc for the 223. I use an all fleet diesel engine oil (same as for my tractors that need an oil with zinc anti wear additives in the oil). Mostly I use a straight 30 weight (I buy that by the 5 gallon pail), but a 10W30 or 15W40 will also do.

Joe,s right on that, there are many differing opinions on oil. Fortunately oil as a whole is a better product than it use to be when the Fridges were rolling off the assembly line. They last much longer and not nearly the sludge. My theory use to be to keep with one brand whatever it may be but with all the big corps. buying from the lowest bidder these days I now think the important thing about oil is to keep the level up and change it when you should. No matter the "brand"!

I'm in Orange County, California and so it's a very dry and very original truck. One elderly owner who passed away. She'll clean up really nicely and I wanna keep her as stock as possible.

Just as general info a 223 is an I6 not a V6. Looks like it will make a nice truck. I'm from So Calif also. I use Delo 15-40 in mine, stocked up on the old stuff before they changed it. My other flat tapped motors I run Valvoline racing 10-30.

Oh yea, Im diggin it man! Is that 4 on the floor? If you need any "outer" nub wheels to make them all match, let me know. I can get them for you. The originals were the "inner" nubs though. Very nice truck and cant wait to see the updates and progress
