4.9 overheats. Head gasket? air in Coolant? Too much Coolant?

Okay, so for starters, here are the specs. It's a 89 f150 with the 4.9 inline 6, with a mazda manual transmission. The other night it got drastically cold out of nowhere and the radiator froze. I got it into the garage and let it warm up, and replaced the radiator and thermostat. After topping it with coolant and water, I put on one of those Radiator caps with the funnel on top. We ran it for approximately 5 minutes to try and remove any air from the system. After 5 minutes, the water rapidly rose from the funnel out the top and leaked everywhere. We continued to run it and whenever we revved the truck up or let it run for a while, it would pour out of the funnel in a swirling motion. I decided to try and run it with the cap on, but whenever we do this, as soon as the truck is on normal temp, it fills my overflow jug then pours out the cap. The heater hose to the heater core is seemingly under alot of pressure when the truck is hot, while the return hose is nearly half that pressure. Is that a potential issue? The only other thing I've noticed is that the upper hose rapidly fills with pressure, while it doesn't feel like water is flowing in it. I will note we did a Coolant system flush before we removed the old Radiator.
My friend says it's the head gasket between the cylinder and the Coolant. I personally think I have air, or its over full.
I'm throwing myself at your mercy because I'm at the end of my rope on what to do or how to troubleshoot to get an answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Carrington
