$160 bellowed up pipes?

Found these while looking for parts to fix my truck. Thought I would share as the price is so low compared to what I have seen.

That's a good price even on the doormans. The lowest I have seen them for was $192.

I had to send my Dorman uppies back 2 times because the collector which is cast iron was bad. 1st one had a hole in it, 2nd one had a large pit on the mating surface. The third time was the charm, it was perfect.

I have heard that their quality leaves a little to be desired, but that they are passable usually. I hadn't heard of anyone having to send them back before ebbnflow mentioned it. I did hear of people having issues with the recessions for the bolts being too shallow and the castings being a bit rough, and maybe needing some dremmel work or some grinding to make them a little smoother flowing, but they are decent enough to work.

If I remember there was a lot of discussion earlier in the year, if not late last year. Yes the quality wasn't IH but they seemed to work??

I recently installed dorman up pipes and the baby's butt was good and the bolt holes were bored and tapped all the way thru. It was a pain in the rear to do tho...

Yes, a giant PITA. But, harder using stock pieces from Ford, and I still spent over 300 bucks doing mine because of broken bolts, broken easy outs (ha ha) and buying new collector. Go bellows no matter whose you use.

Buying these now, hope they are good. Even if they only last 5 years, 2 sets would be cheaper that 1 set of IH ones.

I bought and installed the Dorman Up Pipes earlier this year. Currently I have severl thousand miles on them and they are holding up good. I collector didn't have any issues and locked up tight. I have checked them several times and they are performing just as needed. I got mine from Advance Auto parts for $148 shipped. Best deal ever!

Some have big issues with them, but I and several others have had great success.

Ok, i ordered the dorman kit. My pipes have been leaking.
I use to get about 25 lbs of boost with the tuner, exhaust and 6637.
Now im under 20, and there is soot on the firewall.
The bolts are froze. tried to tighten them up with no luck.

I still have my turbo o-ring set with the bolt's from when i bought the master o-ring kit from diesel o-rings.

So who want's to try and talk me out of installing them my self !! anyone... anyone.... LOL

Anyone have a link on the replacement of the up pipes and what i will need ?

Used the trt30 and got the $50 off $143 + tax

Do a search for Diehardstroker. He did a great write up and I did the job while he was doing it. I had an easier job due to no rust, but he did the write up and pics. Since you will need to pull the turbo, might as well rebuild the turbo and change the wheel if you have been thinking about it.

If you have leaking I/c boots, change those too. If you have a leaks in your EBPV, rebuild or delete it. Repair your passenger side fuel line if it's rubbing on the mount and check the UCVH and glow plugs. You will already have it torn down.

Just a few suggestions from someone who has rebuilt the top end.

Yeah, I rebuilt my turbo and pedestal while I was in there and had already done boots, uvch and glow plugs. In fact, the only things I haven't done on my truck so far is driveline and transmission. Driveline is next...transmission will wait for awhile...maybe another 80 to 100 thousand miles...presuming it lasts as well as others seem to have.
