53 needing new roof

I am looking at a 53 F100 that needs a new roof. I thought I used to see roof repair kits all the time. Now I can't find one. Does anyone make a metal roof repair panel. I found a fiberglass roof panel on Gibbons website, but I can't see that attaching very well.

Has anyone ever replaced a roof?

Most people are not very well versed in the latest panel adhesives...attaching fiberglass to steel is fairly straight forward and much easier than welding. Don't rule out this option until you do a little homework on structural adhesives...you'll be surprised at how much they are used in today's trucks, for instance, Ford uses them to bond the fiberglass bedsides to the steel boxes on many trucks.

All that is good and fine, but you need to have solid steel to bond to. If the roof skin and understructure is rotted, you may need to do some pretty serious repair before bonding anything. Nothing is as easy as it sounds.

Im interested in this also since my 53 could use a new roof. Just not sure i would want to do it myself or have someone do it?
I found a donor cab this spring but it was a nice cab and was too much $$ just to cut the roof off . My 53 is a cabover otherwise I would just swap cabs.

Fifty4F100, If you decide to repair the metal roof or replace it, PM me. I have a couple of good roofs. I think I even have a good partial roof if that's all you need. I'm even close enough for you to drive to come and get it to get around the high shipping and chance of damage in shipping issues. I'm in Arkansas.

Gibbons? AFAIK Gibbon's closed up shop and and all their assets were sold at bankruptcy auction about 10 years ago.
Mid Fifty sells FG roofs.

Yes Terry is reproducing fiberglass parts for our trucks. Pancake hoods, fenders, big back window panels and so much more. He has a good inventory of used parts. If u ever go to Nebraska, visit him. I had to buy a small trailer just to get my parts back to Nevada.
