How rare is the crew cab dually?

I have seen a few of them around, but not too many. I think they were only made from 83-86 if my memory serves me correct.

I don't think I have come across another 4spd truck.

Unfortunately time has come and mine is going down the road. I hope someone else will put it to good use. I have it listed in the classifieds.
I was going to convert it to 4wd, swap in a zf and a 500 cubic inch 460, but I don't seem to have the time for this project.

Back in the day they were quite common on construction sites here in south Texas, especially in the 70s, but they wore out and got crushed I guess. Fuel costs probably didnt help.

If I remember correctly crew cabs with the factory dually box did not come out till 83, but I may be wrong.

I do not recall ANY dually crew cab Ford prior to 83. The dually pickup didn't come along until 1980, and it was reg cab only for the first 3-4 years, before adding the crew cab option. Super cab dually's didn't come along for another 5-6 years.

Rare, not so much when new. Even today, they aren't really rare. The really rare ones are low mile and/or very well cared for examples.

Yes, there were a few older crew cab dually's, but most were either a CC or DRW truck converted into a CC DRW truck. I guess Ford figured you needed to either haul more cargo OR more people, not both.......
GM offered a "3+3" CC DRW pickup in the 70's. Dunno why Ford waited so long to dominate the market...... Kinda like how long they waited to build anything to compete with the Suburban...........
