Smile SES Light after .50 mod

I've got a 2001 7.3l F250 114K miles and I have been having probems with the engine loosing power and going into limp mode. If i shut the engine off and restarted it would tend to run fine, until it would randomly loose power again. I did not have any SES light at this point in time. After reading about the .50 mod as a possible solution, I did both sides yesterday and now I have a Service Engine Soon light right off the the initial start and the engine runs, but sounds and feels rough.. I did notice the UVCH on the driver side looked like it was loose and I pulled it back together before inserting the quarter fix on the top of the connector.. I'm lost at what to trouble shoot or what I should look at next.. Does the SES produce a code and if so how do I get it read.. Also I did notice that the ICP electrical connection did have some oil in the cavity. I unplugged it and started the engine, it ran worse.. What is the ICP and should this be replaced since it has oil in the electrical cavity? Any help would be appreciated.

Did you take a look at the connections on the uvch when you had the valve covers apart? Also, did you check the connections to the GP's and injectors? If you didn't check the connection at the valve cover, you could have missed some burnt pins in this connection. Might want to disconnect the plugs at valve cover on the outside and ohm the pins.

As far as the ICP, is that the code you get when you run codes? An oily connection gives an indication that it might be bad, but you said it ran worse with it unplugged.

Check your codes. Then report back.

Assuming you got the UVCH plugged in tightly with the quarters without breaking any of the tabs before buttoning everything up, I'd guess the problem is you knocked one of the injector plugs loose when you put the valve covers back on.

The unplugged injector causes the SES light and the slight miss in the motor when started. I've learned this lesson myself the hard way.

SES light after .50 mod

After thinking about this, I decided to order new UVCH's for both sides, considering that the .50 mod didn't fix my problem, and changed the issue a little bit, I figureded that it has to be the UVCH. I also ordered a ICP to replace and for he heck of it, a new Cam Position Sensor, for $28 I thought what the heck..

I don't have anything to check the codes that are behind the SES light. Is there any device that will read them? I have an OBD II feader but it doesn't read the codes. What else is available?

Thanks

As far as the ICP goes, it sounds like the sensor is still good since it ran worse once unplugged. I'd clean it out with some CRC Electronic Cleaner or similar and continue running it.

You can ohm the connector to see if one of the injectors came unplugged. Just takes a simple multi meter to check.

The traditional OBDII readers won't work for a majority of the codes with your vehicle. Where are you located, maybe we can get someone with an AE to come read the truck for you.

The round scangauge II will work, the rectangle scangauge box will not.

Like I said, get an ohm meter and check that way.
