To Cover or not To Cover?

I am probably going to keep my '79 F250 off the road starting from about now until April, because the salt trucks are now out in force in Vermont. Really don't want the truck to touch the roads that have salt on them. So, seeing that I don't have garage to keep the rig in, it's going to be outside through the next 5 months of weather.
My question is, if it was your truck about to sit through a tough New England winter, would you be looking to cover it up, or leave it out and uncovered?

Thanks-

Good enough. Any advice on a good cover? It's a long bed.

Use a good cover spend the extra cash. Clean the truck before placing it on dont want the cover to flap and slide dirt or road dust into the Clear Coat. Use as many straps bungies etc to keep it tight a flapping cover beats the hell out of the paint. I'd take the tail gate off or leave it down so water wont pool on top of cover on bed and possible drip through. or leave a large object in the bed higher then the bed rails to cause a mountain effect so water rolls off. Also id suggest jacking it up as not to leave flat spots in tires . Would possibly treat gas with stabil I usually run the tank almost empty then add some then run again for a few mins. Check your coolant I have seen guys add to much water during the summer months then store their cars for winter and boom by spring they are replacing freeze plugs. Id also pull the battery no need to have it slow drain I have found keeping them warm for the winter makes them easier to charge in the spring. Could be just one of those old wives tales though lol.

I just bought a california car cover "noa" for my super cab.
California Car Cover Company - Cover Materials

Fits perfect and the quality is second to none, I had a little issue with the mirrors which they paid the shipping both ways to correct it. If you are thinking of ordering from them, Call them first, and give them measurements for your mirrors.

Chris
