1995 F150

I am getting ready to purchase a 1995 Ford F150 4x4 with a 5.0L. I have never seen a truck like this. It is listed as heavy duty suspension. It is a standard 1/2 ton frame. But the suspension is weird to me. This truck actually has 2 shocks on each side of the coil spring on both sides of the front of the truck. And it has overloads in the back, which I didn't see that part. Is this a Factory Tow Package? If so, What is the output power difference between this truck and a regular F150? I am inquiring about this, because I have a 9800 lbs. camper that I need to pull with it.

Don't even think about pulling that heavy of a trailer with it. The 5.0 isn't enough engine.
My guess is someone installed the double front shocks & overloads. Ford did have a double front shock set up factory but I don't remember it being on the 90s trucks. The big Broncos had them I know.

My 94 has that set up. It's heavy duty, but it's still a half ton.

A camper that size needs a f 250 or larger, not just for the power, but for the bigger brakes too

I was just wondering. I found on one website, that the 95 F150 was rated to pull 11,500 lbs.

Judging by that weight has to be about the same size as our camper, yea truck would handle the weight just fine, weight transfer hitch/campers brakes functioning properly, but no way would I wanna have to pull it around with a 5.0.

Tow ours with our 95 with a 7.5L, not winning no race doing it but handles it fine. 5.0 into any kinda head wind or hills or both at the same time? forgetaboutit.....

No that is the Gross Combined Weight Rating which is the maximum allowable total weight of truck, trailer, and all passengers and cargo. Curb weight of a reg cab 4x4 is 4500lbs.. you do the math.

Quad front shocks were an option on these trucks.. my '89 had them, but overload rear springs were not a factory option on a 1/2 ton.

How hard would it be to replace the 302 with a 351W? Is it possible?

Not a big deal to put a 5.8 in it but that won't change the fact your trailer is way beyond what the truck can legally tow.

The F 150 is tagged for 8,500 lbs here in Md. The trailer weighs more than the truck is tagged for. You would be wasting your money on the conversion

x 2

moving a load is one thing ... bringing it to a stop is another. you need more truck for what you plan on doing.
