Will a 400 4x4 Oil pan fit a 4x2?

The title says it all. I have a 400 with a 4x4 oil pan (rear sump--double hump) will it fit a 4x2. Also what size is the 4x4 pan --it's from a F 250. I know the 4x2 takes a front sump pan, but it looks like a 4x4 might fit. 4x4 is a 78 F 250, 4x2 is a 79 F 350. Thanks.

It fits. Just swapped my 78 2wd's 400 to a 79 4wd 351m. Didn't change the oil pans an actually fits the 4x4 pan better. I believe my pan was a 7 quart pan...I may be mistaken though on that one.

Thanks guys. It seems like the 4x4 pan is a larger capacity pan also. A plus. Has anyone had a problem with the LONG 4x4 oil pickup (cracking, coming loose etc)? Thanks again

What? It doesn't hit the steering linkage? This is the first I've heard of that!

Nope no hitting here. It fits perfectly fine. Actually it almost fits better than my 2wd pan. And no, no issue with the long dipstick fitting either.
