I went to change the thermostat in my 300i6 and after I put the new one in and reassemble now I cant get it to stop leaking at the housing where it bolts on to the head, it leaks at the bottom corner of the housing on the passandger side, I've tried taking taking it off and applying RTV silicone on the gasket, put a fel-pro gasket on it but it still wants to leak. An other less serious problem is half my dash light up "clear" opposed to green on the drivers side, any thoughts?
i took out the instrument panel out to get a better look, this is were the bulb went that lights up that side of the dash, when i took out the bulb it had no green skin just the bulb.
This is what the side looks like that is lighting up normal (without the bulb), is that blue looking thing inside what you guys are referring to as the green skin?
really easy way to see what hes talking about is the wiper/lights light on cluster cover. remove clip carefuly by gently squeezing and you will see the blue plastic cover looks the same as the one in the cluster just smaller. also looks like your cluster might be a little brittle ?
Yeah it's probably original to the truck, yeah it's getting a little brittle, I know what your talking about now, so to fix it I would have to take instrument cluster apart? Or?

That's correct; that's the inside of the diffuser. Looks like it's missing on the other side; it may have fallen out at some point.
